The scintillating fiber tracker and the opto-electronic readout system of the CHORUS neutrino oscillation experiment

  • 1. Institut fuer Kernphysik, University of Muenster, Wilhelm-Klemm-Strasse 9, D-48149 Muenster (Germany)

Description

A scintillating fiber tracker system consisting of about 1.1 million fibers has been constructed successfully and is operational in the CHORUS neutrino oscillation experiment at CERN. The tracker system composes of a target tracker and a magnetic spectrometer. The target tracker consists of 8 tracker planes with 4 projections each, and the magnetic spectrometer consists of an air-core magnet and 3 tracker planes. The design, the performance and the opto-electronic readout system are described
