Description

Design rules used in German codes and standards for pressure vessels of metallic materials are described. The further regulations applying to pressure vessels and steam boilers in nuclear power plant are not described here. The titles of the Rule Sheets for pressure vessel design are given. Loads and possible types of failure, design for predominantly static stresses and for alternating stresses are discussed. The use of computers is mentioned. A comparison is made with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) code. (U.K.)
