Effects of the interatomic interaction in emission X spectra of rare earth and alkaline-earth elements

Description

Emission transitions of KMsub(2, 3)Ca, Msub(4, 5)Nsub(2, 3)Sr and Nsub(4, 5)Osub(2, 3)Ba are studied. A considerable line broadening in SrO and BaO, as compared with the spectra of pure metals, has been observed. Possible reasons for this effect and its connection with the vanishing of one of Nsub(4, 5)Osub(2) spectral lines in rare-earth element oxides are discussed
