Diffusional creep of a SiC whisker reinforced alumina/zirconia composite

Description
The study presented by the authors has shown that the creep of an alumina-zirconia ceramic reinforced with SiC whiskers was probably interface controlled. A threshold stress depending on temperature has been observed. Its temperature sensitivity is too strong to account for the temperature dependence of the shear modulus in a model of vacancy absorption/emission by spiral climb sources in the grain boundaries and more complex processes must be envisaged
