Description

Nuclear power plants with PWR type reactors will be built in Czechoslovakia at least till 2020. Units of 1000 MW will be constructed at so-called large localities, of which there will be no more than 12. 500 MW units can be used for smaller localities; this will be topical roughly after 2010. Nuclear power plants with HTGR's should also be constructed after 2010, particularly as sources of high-capacity heat. After 2020, perfect exploitation of fuel will become pressing also in this country; this may be associated with the use of FBR type reactors, particularly as substitutes for decommissioned nuclear power plants with WWER type reactors. In the future, more attention will have to be paid to fuel cycle problems. System management based on an optimized and periodically upgraded strategic programme of nuclear power industry as well as of the supporting mechanical and civil engineering will be imperative for the future development.
