Blood lipids in patients with differentiated thyroid carcinoma on suspension of hormone replacement therapy

Description
Objective: To study blood lipids levels variation in patients with differentiated thyroid carcinoma(DTC) on suspension of hormone replacement therapy. Methods: Serum levels of thyroid function-related hormones(with CLIA) and blood in 55 patients with DTC lipids (with biochemistry) were measured during and after 4-weeks suspension of hormone replacement therapy. Results: Suspension of hormone replacement resulted in hypothyroidism in all patients with TSH levels increased from 0.45(0.07-27.13) mIU/L to 92.4(8.4->150) mIU/L. TG, TC, HDL, LDL, ApoA/B/E were all elevated.The lipids levels except TG, were correlated with TSH levels (rs=0.453-0.601, P<0.002). Conclusion: Suspension of hormone replacement would have a negative impact on lipid metabolism with elevation of blood lipids levels. (authors)
