Description
One of PTKMR-BATAN's duties as a national reference laboratory or SSDL (Secondary Standard Dosimetry Laboratory) in the field of radiation metrology is maintenance of national standard traceability for units of activity, dose, (including fluence). PTKMR-BATAN does not yet have facilities, equipment and infrastructure of manganese bath, but the author's purpose is to study this literature because the measurement of neutron emission rate by manganese sulphate bath method is very important and if PTKMR have had the equipment, this method can be used to certify the source of neutron ''orphan source''. Inter comparation of Am Be neutron emission rate measurement, have held by BIPM in 2005, followed by 8 participants: CIAE (China), CMI (Czech Republic), KRISS (Korea), LNE-LNHB (France), LNMRI (Brazil), NPL (UK), VNllM (Russia), and NIST (USA). The principle of the MnSO4H2O bath method is a neutron that comes and enters the bath, terminated and captured by MnS04 solution with various nuclei present in bath and with a certain fraction captured by 55Mn. The absolute disintegration rate of 56Mn is measured by a 4 πβγ coincidence counting system or other method and by using the Axton equation, an incoming neutron emission rate can be obtained. Correction is made to neutron leakage, self capture and fast neutron capture by sulfur and oxygen using MCNP transport system code (Monte Carlo N-particle) -ENDF/B-VI cross section. Based on the test X2, the inter comparation result of the average neutron emission rate from the 6 participants is: (2.438 ± 0.088).106 n/s. (author)
