Energy dependence of the cross sections for ionisation collisions between two excited hydrogen atoms

  • 1. Waseda Univ., Tokyo (Japan)

Description

The semiquantal theory is employed to investigate ionisation collisions between two excited hydrogen atoms, Hsub(A)(nsub(A)1sub(A)) + Hsub(B)(nsub(B)1sub(B)) → Hsub(A)(n'sub(A)1'sub(A)) + H+sub(B) + e. Cross sections for (nsub(A) = 2, n'sub(A) = 3, nsub(B) = 2), (nsub(A) = 2, n'sub(A) = 3, nsub(B) = 3) and (nsub(A) = 2, n'sub(A) = 4, nsub(B) = 3) are calculated for all possible values of azimuthal quantum numbers. Some new phenomena are found in the collision energy dependence of the cross sections. (author)
