Is the world supersymmetric? When will we know?

After a very short review of the Standard Model of particle physics to make the talk self-contained, the author explains the hypothetical symmetry of particle states and interactions called open-quotes supersymmetryclose quotes briefly, and describes the motivations that have led many particle physicists to work on it.
