Method of neptunium extraction from aqueous solutions

Description

Consideration is being given to the method of selective electrolytic Np separation from aqueous solutions, containing U,Pu,Th,Cm,Am, rare earths for the purpose of successive Np determination by the method of α-spectrometry. Electrolysis is conducted from aqueous solutions of NH4OH, containing 10-15% glycerin, at 30-40 mA/cm2 current density dring 15-20 min at pH 10-11. The method enables to perform selective and quantitative Np separation from irradiated nuclear fuel with the minimal preliminary purification and to obtain thin-layer targets, suitable for α-spectroscopy. Coefficient of purification from actinides and rare earths equals 102-103, from plutonium - 20-50. Electrolysis yield equals 80-98%
