The generalized optical theorem
Description
Some of the applications, that have been made of the generalized optical theorem are discussed. The derivation of the optical theorem for the one-particle inclusive distribution and the generalization to n-particle inclusive distributions is described as well as the application to resonance decays. The Regge model for discontinuity is presented and the three Regge limits are defined. It has been shown that the optical theorem together with the Regge model describes the behaviour of the inclusive cross-sections in all three limits. The theoretical results are tested with the available experimental data. The emphasis is on advantages of the new formulation as the possibility of formulating of the concept of factorization in terms of Regge pole exchange. (S.B.)
