Time effect of high temperature vacuum annealing on structure and properties of titanium alloys
Description
The time effect of annealing (1.5; 5; 15 h) at 850 deg C in vacuum <= 2.5x10-3 Pa on structure, composition and properties of VT1-0; PT-7M; OT4-1 titanium alloy samples has been studied. It has been shown that with the increase of the high-temperature vacuum annealing duration processes of sublimation and saturation with gas lead to a progressive damage of metal surface, and to growth of depth and defectiveness of the surface layer with changed composition, structure and properties. These phenomena decrease the level of fatigue characteristics of investigated titanium alloys
