Hardening and fracture of wedge-shaped specimens of uranium and its alloys with molybdenum and zirconium under explosive loading

  • 1. Rossijskij Federal'nyj Yadernyj Tsentr - Vserossijskij NII Ehksperimental'noj Fiziki, Sarov, Nizhegorodskaya Obl. (Russian Federation)

Description

The results of studies of explosion effect on properties of uranium and its alloys, namely U-1,4Mo and U-1,4Mo-0,7Zr, are presented. The specimens in the form of a wedge were loaded with explosion of a plastic explosive layer 1,5-3,0 mm thick. The character of attenuation of shock waves caused by explosion was determined. The data on critical conditions of spall fracture initiation and on degree of shock-wave hardening of the materials were obtained
