Description

Spatial distribution study of uranium and associated water quality parameters in drinking water samples in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra was carried out under National Uranium Project (NUP) of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC). In this study, 194 drinking water samples were collected and analyzed for uranium and sixteen water quality parameters using BARC standard protocol. Fluoride, chloride, nitrate and sulphate levels in most of the water samples in pre- and post-monsoon samples were found to be less than BIS acceptable limits. U levels is found to vary from < 0.1 - 8.31 ppb and < 0.1 -13.88 ppb in pre- and post-monsoon, respectively. (author)
