The elementary particles as stable and unstable localized energy modes in electrified space-time
Description
In this paper I propose a new theory for elementary particles based on analogies with the generation and behaviour of cosmic magnetic fields in general and the magneto-hydrodynamic theory of solar activity in particular. The magnetic lines of force of the Sun's field are, because of the very high conductivity of the solar plasma, frozen into the gaseous material of the Sun. Sunspots and solar prominences result from magnetohydrodynamic stabilities in the solar plasma. By analogy, I propose that the very fabric of matter is electrified space, and that the so-called fundamental particles are composed of lines of electric force frozen into three-dimensional space. I then discuss some of the physical consequences of this theory. In particular I discuss the consequences of the theory for elementary particle physics and quantum mechanics. (author)
