Description

A critical assessment of two experimental techniques, applied to the determination of partial structure factors of molecular liquids, namely the isotopic substitution technique of neutron diffraction and the anomalous X-ray diffraction, is given. The problems concerning the intramolecular contribution, the chemical elements suitable for isotopic substitution, and the data corrections, are discussed in details with examples taken from the literature.
