Different responses to irradiation of intact tissue of the minor pelvis as observed in the Goettingen miniature swine during gynaecological contact therapy using low and high source activities
Description
During the study described here experiments were carried out in laboratory pigs of the Goettingen type, which were subjected to contact therapy using either conventional doses or high source activities (short-term irradiation). The remaining experimental set-up was an imitation of the clinical procedures usually followed in humans. After the termination of treatment and a follow-up observation period it was established on the basis of histomorphology and cytological investigations using impulse photometry whether and to which extent the intact tissue of the minor pelvis showed changes resulting from radiotherapy.
