Personal dosimetry for external radiation exposure in Europe
Description
This article summarizes a report on harmonisation and dosimetric quality assurance in individual monitoring for external radiation, published by the European Radiation Dosimetry Group (EURADOS). The report comprises three parts: (1) procedures and regulations in countries of the European Union and Switzerland with respect to personal dosimetry; (2) a catalogue with descriptions of dosimetry systems in the fore-mentioned countries; and (3) performance testing of dosimetric services in EU Member States and Switzerland. 17 refs
Abstract (Dutch)
In 1996 zijn door de Raad van Europa nieuwe basisnormen voor stralingsbescherming opgesteld. In bijlage 2 van deze basisnormen wordt gesteld dat de dosis als gevolg van externe blootstelling moet worden vastgesteld in de grootheid persoonsdosisequivalent (personal dose equivalent). Voor het bepalen hiervan heeft de Europese Commissie technische aanbevelingen gepubliceerd in rapport EUR14852. Gesponsord door de EC is door European Radiation Dosimetry group (EURADOS) een werkgroep 'Harmonisation and Dosimetric Quality Assurance in Individual Monitoring lor External Radiation' ingesteld om na te gaan in hoeverre de erkende dosimetrische diensten de basisnormen en aanbevelingen hebben geimplementeerd. Het resultaat van het werk is een driedelig rapport dat als speciale uitgave van Radiation Protection Dosimetry is uitgegeven. Het eerste deel van het rapport behandelt procedures en regelgeving in de landen van de EU plus Zwitserland op het gebied van de persoonsdosimetrie. Het tweede deel is een catalogus met beschrijvingen van dosimetrische systemen in de genoemde landen. Het derde deel van het rapport beschrijft de prestatietest.
