Digital technology is an opportunity to control costs, deadlines and risks
Description
Complexity, a long agenda time and as a consequence, huge volumes of data, are the specificities of nuclear projects. A nuclear facility is a complex system in which a multitude of players of various fields have to intervene. Digital technology can help both managing this complexity and increasing reliability. Digital technology has to become systemic in nuclear industry, the idea is to develop a collective dynamics that serves everyone's efficiency while reinforcing collaboration on the whole chain of tasks: engineers, operators, manufacturers, maintenance technicians, equipment installers or staff from regulatory and certification entities. 2 obstacles have to be overcome, first filling the gap concerning the ability of using digital technologies that can be very different between a big enterprise and a small one. The other obstacle is a low standard of cyber-security, the deployment of digital technologies increases the risks of theft, spying, malevolence that have to be counteracted by an equivalent deployment of cyber-security technologies.
