Description
We have performed gain calculations for the possible laser transitions in Pd-like xenon. The theory is verified by comparison with the experimental gain observed in xenon plasma produced by the femtosecond laser. The optimum parameters are found to achieve x-ray lasing at 41.8 nm with gL>45 in xenon capillary discharge plasma. The necessary conditions can be reached in xenon plasma using some contemporary capillary discharges with rise time ∼40 ns
