Description

In the present work, effect of manganese substitution on the surface interaction of neptunium (Np) with magnetite surface has been studied with the view to delineate the following aspects: 1) Speciation of sorbed Np on Mn-doped magnetites and 2) Does the speciation of sorbed Np favour Mn over Fe as surface sorption sites. Having similar ionic radii of Fe and Mn but different electronic structure, this study also aims to comment on the interplay of ionic vs. covalent interaction of Np with surface sites
