Progress towards increasing the proliferation resistance of the nuclear option
Description
The Nonproliferation Alternative Systems Assessment Program (NASAP) is designed to provide technical support for the International Nuclear Fuel Cycle Evaluation program and to help define the future direction of the U.S. domestic nuclear program. Systems were selected and categorized into 3 groups. A limited assessment of proliferation resistance was performed. Some of the major concepts which are being studied under NASAP are listed. A wide variety of converter and breeder options are available: tandem, CANDU, HTGR, accelerator breeder, etc
