Retrospective study on the health status of the population living near the Kozloduy NPP

Official medical statistical data have been used for analyzing the morbidity of the population from the 30-km zone of the Kozloduy NPP for a 5 years period, as well as the main demographic indices - birth-rate, mortality, natural accretion, children mortality. The factual and standartized morbidity from malignant diseases (of lungs, thyroid, mammary glands, lymph nodes and hematopoietic system) according to age groups has been determined for the whole controlled period and annually. A comparison is made with the average values for this country and with the values for the Belyane region, which has similar characteristics and is radiologically 'pure'. No substantial deviations in observed parameters has been established. 3 figs., 4 refs
