Gallium-substituted magnetoplumbite Pb(Fe10.6Ga1.4)O19: Crystal structure and magnetic properties

  • 1. Geology Faculty, Moscow State University, Vorob'evy gory, Moscow, 119489 (Russian Federation)

Description

The crystal structure of Ga-containing magnetoplumbite has been refined by the X-ray diffraction method (automated diffractometer, λMoKα-radiation, graphite monochromator, 2θ/θ-scan, 539 crystallographically nonequivalent reflection, R=0.026). The unit-cell parameters are a=5.858(1), c=23.044(5) A, sp. gr. P63/mmc, Z=2, ρcalc=5.841 g/cm3. It has been established that Ga3+-ions are located mainly in tetrahedra and occupy them statistically together with Fe3+-ions. The studies of magnetic and magnetoelectric properties provided the determination of the magnetic-symmetry class
