Development of safety system and controller against CCF(Common Cause Failure) in NPP

Description

The chance of CCF(Common Cause Failure) occurrence has been increased since digital technologies based on a software are applied NPPs(Nuclear Power Plant). To prevent the CCF, the regulation for diversity & defense in depth design has been bound to tightened. In addition, to complete the world highest level of MMIS(Man Machine Interface System) package, it is necessary to secure the design strategy for diversity and defense in depth of instrumentation and control system. In this project, the heterogeneous controllers having the diversity each other are developed, which consist of CPU based PLC(Programmable Logic Controller) and FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array) based FLC(FPGA based Logic Controller). And the necessary design reports for getting the license certification are documented. Finally, to cope with the CCF, the prototype of safety system using the PLC and FLC are implemented and the conformity to the NPPs is evaluated. Through this project, the necessary technologies for coping with the CCF are localized as developing the safety data network and FLC. Also the export competitiveness of safety instrumentation and control system is secured as building up the safety system having the diversity using the heterogeneous controllers. The developed controller and safety system can be used the replacement of aging safety systems in operating NPPs and can be applied to the digital safety system in new NPPs. Also it can be exported to overseas safety system market
