Runaway ions in an expanding plasma
Creators

Description
Ion motion in an expanding multicomponent plasma is analyzed. Because of the self-consistent electric field which arises during the expansion, the friction between the ion components can be rendered inconsequential by ion ''runaway.'' The conditions for this runaway are studied. It is shown to occur in an expanding laser plasma
