Description
Computerized tomography is undoubtedly an expensive but non-invasive imaging procedure with excellent results in tumor diagnosis. It is esspecially useful for the following localization of tumors: brain, nasal-sinus/orbita, mediastinum, adrenal, kidneys, pancreas, retroperitoneum. Meanwhile experience could be assembled in staging of tumors of the skull, neck, oesophagus as well as of the pancreas and its vicinity and the urinary bladder. The resulting transverse sections of computerized tomography have the advantage that they are reproducible at any time and therefore are ideal for follow-up studies. Computerized tomography with facilitate localization of tumors as well as their staging together with an empirical basis for therapeutic planning. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Die Computertomographie ist zweifellos eine aufwendige, aber nicht-invasive, bildgebende Methode mit hervorragenden Ergebnissen in der Tumordiagnostik. Sie eignet sich besonders fuer folgende Tumorlokalisationen: Gehirn, Nebenhoehlen/Orbita, Mediastinum, Nebennieren, Nieren, Pankreas, Retroperitoneum. Groerere Erfahrungen wurden inzwischen beim Staging im Bereich des Schaedels, am Hals, am Oesophagus, im Bereich des Pankreas und der Harnblase gesammelt. Der resultierende Koerperquerschnitt bei der Computertomographie hat den Vorteil, dass er jederzeit reproduzierbar und damit fuer Verlaufskontrollen hervorragend geeignet ist. Die Computertomographie bietet die Moeglichkeit, Tumoren leichter zu lokalizieren, ihr Stadium exakter einzuteilen und damit wesentlich bessere Voraussetzungen fuer die Therapieplanung zu schaffen.
