Effect of the administration of a cas drink (Psidium friedrichsthalianum Ndz.) On the metabolomic profile in Wistar rat urine
Description
The consumption of cas fruits (Psidium friedrichsthalianum) has been associated with possible positive biological effects given the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capacity in vitro. In order to determine the effect of cas ingestion, the administration of a drink was evaluated on the metabolomic profile in urine of Wistar rats, both in an acute administration and in a short-term administration using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR-) techniques. NOESY presat) and High Resolution Liquid Chromatography with Mass detector (UPLC-MS). Acute administration is mainly related to the decrease of elements involved in mitochondrial energy metabolism and an effect on the excretion of molecules derived from the processing of phytochemicals is not observed. Short-term administration is associated with the decrease of metabolites directly or indirectly related to the cellular oxidative state. The Mass Spectrometry technique in both the acute and the short-term models allows to establish differentiating markers associated in appearance with the treatment, however, additional studies are required for the presumptive identification of these metabolites
