Gamma spectrometric data acquisition with NaI(Tl) scintillation detector using raspberry PI

Description

Radiation measurement tools are very important in radiation monitoring activities in the work environment. This research develops a gamma spectrometry data acquisition system using NaI(Tl) scintillation detector with Raspberry Pi microcontroller for real-time gamma radiation monitoring. The method used involves collecting data from the NaI(Tl) detector which is processed through the Raspberry Pi to display the radiation energy spectrum on a browser-based dashboard. The dashboard was built in Python, using the spidev library for SPI communication, dash and plotly for real-time data visualization, and scipy for spectrum analysis and energy calibration. Tests of the system with Co-60 and Cs-137 standard sources show that this system has high accuracy with error values (%) on Co-60 are 0.02 and 0.14 while on Cs-137 is 0.12, the result of the error value on both sources is less than 1 %. The results show that this system is effective as a portable and accurate gamma radiation monitoring tool, with potential applications for radiation detection in the field. (author)
