Description
RENO (Reactor Experiment for Neutrino Oscillation) is an experiment to measure the smallest neutrino mixing angle theta θ13 using electron antineutrinos emitted from the Yonggwang (now Hanbit) nuclear power plant in Korea. Antineutrinos from six 2.8 GWth reactors are detected and compared by two detectors located at 294 m and 1384 m, respectively, from the reactor array center. Based on 402 days of data taken between 11 August 2011 and 13 October 2012, the ratio of observed to expected numbers of antineutrino at the far detector is 0.929 ± 0.006(stat.) ± 0.009(syst.). From the deficit, we determine sin22θ13 = 0.100±0.010(stat)±0.015(syst), 5.6σ significant signal, based on a rate only analysis
