High-energy short-pulse carbon dioxide lasers

  • 1. Los Alamos Scientific Lab., NM (USA)

Description

Lasers for fusion application represent a special class of short-pulse generators: not only must they generate extremely short temporal pulses of high quality, but they must do this at ultra-high powers and satisfy other stringent requirements. This paper presents the status of the research and development of carbon dioxide laser systems at the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory, vis-a-vis thr fusion requirements. (author)
