Number of disintegrations in of inhaled particles compartments of respiratory tract and their fractions of transfer into blood and gastrointestinal tract after acute intake
Description
Assumptions on clearance of inhaled aerosols in ICRP new respiratory tract model were expounded. Formulae calculating residence time and number of disintegrations in respiratory tract and fractions of transfer into blood and gastrointestinal tract of inhaled aerosols were listed. Using these formulae, calculation for acute occupational intake of long-lived radioactive aerosols was performed. The calculating results are consistent with corresponding values indicated by ICRP on the whole. It was different from the example calculation by ICRP that the initial rapid absorption of deposited category 'S' material in each compartment of the particle transport model was included. Some probable mistakes in the example calculation of respiratory tract doses by ICRP were also pointed out
