Effect of proper interstitial atoms on hydrogen and helium diffusion mobility in molybdenum

Description

In the process of irradiation (bombardment by hydrogen and helium ions) of metal parallel with vacancies there occur proper interstitial atoms (p.i.a.) which easily move starting from temperature of several tens of degrees K and have the diffusion coefficients greater than interstitial hydrogen and helium. The effect of molybdenum p.i.a. on diffusion characteristics of interstitial H and He is studied. The mechanism of this process is given. The results of the experiments show that the phenom.enon of p.i.a. stabilization with hydrogen can become very important for the problems of radiation swelling and blistering
