Coulomb excitations of low lying levels in 127I and 197Au

  • 1. Punjab Univ., Chandigarh (India). Dept. of Physics

Description

The low-lying levels of 127I and 197Au were Coulomb excited with 3.54 to 4.2 MeV protons. The reduced quadrupole transition probabilities of the 203, 374.9, 418, 618.4, 628.7, 651.1 and 745.5 keV states of 127I, and the 268.8, 278.9, 502, and 547.5 keV states of 197Au was measured from Coulomb excitation by observing the de-excitation gamma rays with a high resolution Ge(Li) detector. The low-energy protons were used for the first time to Coulomb-excite the two levels at 618.4 and 651.1 keV of 127I and one level at 502 keV of 197Au. The present experimental results are found in agreement with the existing experimental data except the B(E2) value of the level at 268.8 keV of 197Au. (author). 4 figs., 4 tabs., 32 refs
