The Office of Civilian Radioactive Waste Management (OCRWM) systems integration modeling system

Description

The Office of Civilian Radioactive Waste Management's (OCRWM's) Systems Integration Branch is responsible for assessing the benefits and performance of the Federal Waste Management System's (FWMS's) configurations and operating strategies from a systemwide perspective. To effectively and efficiently perform these assessments, a systems analysis capability was developed. That capability, called the Systems Integration Modeling System (SIMS), is a fully integrated decision-support tool designed to analyze alternative FWMS configurations and operating strategies. SIMS can also be used as an integral part of the design process for individual system components, such as transportation, monitored retrievable storage, and the repository. SIMS consists of several parts, including models and data bases, which operate either individually or collectively to provide consistent, integrated analyses
