Labelling of carbon suboxide in a radiation field

Description

The possibility of formation of C14-labelled carbon suboxide by isotopic exchange reaction between a labelled carbon-dioxide and the inactive suboxide is investigated. Low intensity (about 105 n/cm2 s) reactor radiation (gamma-rays + fast and slow neutrons) is used as a radiation source. Irradiation in the gas phase leads to the formation of carbon suboxide polymerization products. Irradiation in the liquid phase gives rise to labelled malonic acid. (author)

Abstract (French)

Dans ce memoire, les auteurs etudient la possibilite d'une formation de sous-oxyde de carbone marque au carbone-14 par reaction d'echange isotopique entre un anhydride carbonique marque et le sous-oxyde inactif. Ils ont employe comme source des rayonnements de faible intensite (environ 105 n/cm2 s) emis par un reacteur (rayonnements gamma + neutrons rapides et thermiques). L'irradiation en phase gazeuse mene a la formation de produits de polymerisation du sous-oxyde de carbone. L'irradiation en phase liquide donne lieu a la formation d'acicle malonique marque. La memoria trata de la posibilidad de obtener suboxido de carbono marcado con 14C por una reaccion de intercambio isotopico entre oxido de carbono marcado y suboxido inactivo. Los autores han empleado radiaciones de baja intensidad (unos 105 n/cm2 x s) procedentes de un reactor (rayos gamma + neutrones lentos y rapidos). La irradiacion en fase gaseosa da productos de polimerizacion del suboxido de carbono. La irradiacion en fase liquida produce acido malonico marcado. (author)

Issleduetsya obrazovanie mechennoj C14 nedokisi ugleroda reaktsiej izotopnogo obmena mezhdu mechennoj okis'yu i neaktivnoj nedokis'yu. V kachestve istochnika oblucheniya ispol'zovalas' radiatsiya reaktora (gamma- luchi + bystrye i medlennye nejtrony) nizkoj intensivnosti (okolo 105 raspadov na kvadratnyj santimetr v sekundu). Obluchenie v gazovoj faze vedet k obrazovaniyu produktov polimerizatsii nedokisi ugleroda. Obluchenie v zhidkostnoj faze povyshaet kolichestvo mechenoj malonovoj kisloty. (author)
