Description
The characteristics of the DELPHI hadron calorimeter prototype in various modes of operation of its detectors are presented in this paper. It is shown that the transition to a saturated proportional mode and the use of more sensitive electronics do not worsen the hadron calorimeter operation. The possibility to select muon tracks in the hadron calorimeter and to use them for detector triggering has been investigated. The results of nuclear shower simulation in the detector are presented.
