The trivalent lanthanides are attractive for these studies due to their high charge and their large and variable coordination number. The ligands, ethylene glycol bis(2-amino-ethylether)tetra acetic acid (EGTA), leucine, norleucine and isoleucine have been chosen because of their biological importance and complex forming ability with several metal ions. 6 refs., 1 fig., 3 tabs
