Further development of the CAMIC method for the safety-related assessment of digital I&C. Final report
Description
This research and development project RS1560, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), continues the developments of project RS1525 (New Methods for Evaluating the Reliability of Advanced Human-Machine Interfaces, Digital I&C Equipment and Personnel Organisational Influences). In the RS1525 project, the CAMIC (Cyclic Analytic Method for I&C) method was developed for evaluating PLD-based control technology. The analysis methods and tools developed here were further improved in the current project and extended to the entire computer-based and programmable control technology. In addition, a computer-aided CAMIC application was also developed, which guides the user through the evaluation using the CAMIC method. For the extension of the CAMIC method to the assessment of the entire computer-based and programmable I&C, the existing flowcharts were modified and extended, which also achieved a tighter user guidance and thus improved the consistency and accuracy of assessments. The extended CAMIC method was then implemented as a computer-based CAMIC application. Python was used as the basis for the CAMIC application. Python offers the advantage of using packages that have already been developed, thus minimising the development effort. The entire CAMIC method including the further developed flowcharts were implemented in the CAMIC application. Furthermore, it is possible in the CAMIC application to perform a topic search, add new documents in the CAMIC application, create an assessment sheet in Word format and save the progress of the assessment under one's own user profile. In addition to Python, a MySQL database was created to implement individual user usage and file storage. As a final step, both the CAMIC method and the CAMIC application were subjected to model-based testing.

Additional details
