Cation distribution in copper ferrite nanoparticles of ferrofluids: A synchrotron XRD and EXAFS investigation

Description

This work reports on the structural characterization of a copper ferrite nanoparticle sample, prepared by coprecipitation method, on both short (EXAFS) and long range (XRD) scales. The diffractograms obtained at room temperature were used for Rietveld refinement to determine the lattice parameters, the oxygen position, the mean size of the nanomaterial and the inversion degree, indicating the existence of a mixed ferrite. This cation distribution is also evidenced through both Cu and Fe EXAFS measurements at room temperature
