Giant dipole resonances in the interacting boson model
Description
Giant dipole resonances, represented by p bosons, are introduced into the interacting boson model. For nuclei with SU(3) symmetry the dipole is split by the interactions into two main parts, with any further fragmentation being generally small. The Raman scattering to side bands tends to be very small. This agrees with recent measurements on Er. (orig.)
