Effects of packaging on the temperature of environmental radiation dosimeters

Description
One of the major difficulties encountered in using thermoluminescent dosimeters in the environment is the effect of temperature on the acquisition and/or loss of signal. Experimental evidence indicates that temperatures to which dosimeters are subjected in the course of environmental measurements are frequently considerably higher than ambient air temperatures and depend on the type of dosimeter packaging. Internal temperatures exceeding ambient air temperatures by as much as 220C have been observed. (author)
