Lipatov's QCD pomeron and Santi ppS data on the phase of anti pp elastic scattering

Description
An analysis of the cosmic ray data on σabs(p air) has led to the conclusion that σtot(pp) rises steeply beyond √s = 1 TeV, which nicely agrees with predictions of Lipatov's QCD pomeron. A large, positive, phase of the forward p(anti p)p scattering amplitude implied by this rapid rise of σtot(pp) is shown to fit perfectly the recent Santi ppS data on ρsub(anti p)p = ReFsub(anti p)p(t=0)/ImFsub(anti p)p(t=0). Predictions for σtot(anti pp) = 85-95 mb and ρsub(anti p)p at the Tevatron, √s = 1.8 TeV, are presented: σtot(anti pp) = 85-95 mb and ρsub(anti p)p ≅ 0.2. (orig.)
