The distribution of Cs-137 in the artificial dam Lake Gilau-Cluj county, Romania after the Chernobyl accident

Description

In order to establish the level of radioactive contamination of the Gilau lake after the Chernobyl nuclear plant accident we have taken water, seston and sediment samples, between 1987-88. The presence of Cs-137 was discovered in all the investigated compartments and for all stages of sampling. As it was expected there was a massive Cs-137 accumulation in sediment, in proportion of 66-90%. (orig.)
