Proposed procedure for assessment of erosion corrosion defects
Description
The method developed is consistent with the standards documents applicable to design and control calculations of pipe components of WWER type reactors. The finite element method was employed for calculations to derive a relation suitable for assessing the local thinning of the components. Given a known thinning of the pipe wall, decision has to be made as to whether this thinning is tolerable for a continued operation or if rupture is possible. A relation for the limiting overpressure in a pipe with an ideal defect was derived. (M.D.). 2 figs
