Lifetime measurements in 72Br

Description
The lifetimes of 12 yrast and yrare states in the odd-odd nucleus 72Br were measured via the recoil distance Doppler shift technique and the reactions 58Ni(16O,pn) at 53 MeV beam energy. The negative parity states are grouped into two rotational bands with in-band E2 strengths of 50--100 Wu. Although having similar collective E2 strengths, the positive parity yrast spectrum up to spin 9+ is dominated by the πg/sub 9/2/ I = 9
