The cobalt-60 irradiation facility of accelerator centrum Seibersdorf, Austria

Description

Description of the 60Co irradiation facility and of the supplementary radiation protection equipment is presented, in relation with its recent output upgrading. The irradiation facility is used for both industrial and scientific applications. Some engineering details, including the source moving system, the control, safety and alarm system, ventillation and fire safety systems are described. Radiation protection aspects, requirements and problems are briefly reviewed. (D.Gy.)
