A unified approach to the classical and quantum adiabatic theorems
Description
In this paper, we present a unified derivation of the quantum and classical adiabatic theorems, including their recent improvements due to Berry (1984, 1985) and Hannay (1985). This derivation is based on the introduction of averaged variational principles. Simple semiclassical arguments allow it to be shown that the classical analysis is a special case of the quantum one.
