Non destructive analysis on trace of elements in coal by ressonance neutron activation

Twenty-two elements were determined in Brazilian coal samples by resonance neutron activation technique. The detection limits and the uncertainties of the results show that the technique developed by the authors can be applied in simultaneous determinations of different elements mainly in complex matrix materials (Author)
Abstract (Portuguese)
Analisa-se a tecnica de ativacao com neutrons de ressonancia ja utilizada na determinacao de 22 elementos em amostras de carvoes brasileiros. A tecnica empregada foi a mesma desenvolvida pelos autores para a determinacao de uranio e torio em carvao mineral. As irradiacoes foram efetuadas no reator IEAR-1 do IPEN/CNEN - Sao Paulo, com um fluxo de neutrons termicos de 1,46 x 1013 n.cm-2.seg-1, razao de cadmio: 2,24 (para 197Au) e tempo de irradiacao de 8 horas. O estudo dos resultados demonstram que a tecnica e precisa, exata, sensivel e muito util na determinacao simultanea de varios elementos, principalmente em materiais de matriz complexa.
