Description
A general construction of evolution operators that reduce to proper static limits is developed, and ambiguities in interpreting solutions of the time-dependent Schroedinger equation for electrons in a classical electromagnetic field examined. An apparent energy shift of an electron in the nonrelativistic Volkov solution is shown to be nonunique and hence unobservable. (orig.)
